Fluke Tournament Returns to Star Island Yacht Club

Monday, August 3, 2015

Star Island Yacht Club is hosting its Second Annual Fluke Tournament the weekend of August 7 and 8. The Tournament’s Captain’s Meeting will be held on Friday, August 7 at 7 p.m. and fishing will take place on Saturday, August 8 from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Last year’s inaugural tournament paid out $13,000 in cash prizes. Like last year, awards are presented to the top three heaviest fluke; Calcuttas are also available. Each angler may weigh in only one fish. Minimum weights and lengths are determined by current New York State regulations.

The entry fee for the tournament is $300 per boat, with a maximum of six anglers. For anglers who would like to get in on the action but do not own a boat, the Star Island Yacht Club Charter Boat fishing fleet is available for hire for one or both days of the tournament.

Dockage is on a first-come, first-served basis. Transient rates for this tournament will be $5 per foot. Utilities (electric, water and cable TV) are $30 for 30-amp and single-cord, 50-amp service and $50 for two-cord, 50-amp service. High-speed fuel pumps are now available at all slips.
