A WORD FROM FRIENDS OF STAR ISLAND

A variety of people enjoy Star Island Yacht Club not only throughout the boating season, but in some cases, all year long. They come from all over the Island, across the Long Island Sound, and from up and down the East coast to enjoy Star Island. These people have a passion for fishing or cruising, and many are members of groups that hold their fishing club tournaments or cruising rendezvous at Star Island.

Since 1992, Jack and Diane Eaton of Southington, CT have visited Star Island in their 26' Regal. "We come every year for Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day and at least 2 weekends in between says Diane. The Eatons first discovered Star Island through the Embassy Book, but their experience here has kept them coming back The people are so friendly; we love the floating docks, conveniences of the pool, boat store, the great band entertainment. We have always been treated like family here."

George Tyrell Jr. is a member of the Pattaconk Yacht Club, a cruising club of 65 boats and 125 boaters from Chester, CT. The Pattaconk group came to stay at Star Island for the first time last year, and George believes that Pattaconk has found a new home at Star Island. "We will definitely come back in 1997," he explained "We liked the facility. Star Island is very clean and has a very professional, friendly and well-organized staff.

The atmosphere is cozy and has a lot of activity and many things to see, like the fishing boats coming in and out. We were especially thrilled when we had our own little cocktail party under the Star Island tents."

It's not just those who enjoy cruising that have good things to say about Star Island. Many come for the Star Island tournaments and various clubs have even been allowing Star Island to host their own club tournaments.

Bob Malerba is Vice President of the Northeast Saltwater Fishing Club, with members throughout central Connecticut. He has been coming to Star Island for nearly 10 years. "The facilities, accommodations and service are outstanding, especially the availability of bait and fuel." explains Bob. "We held two of our shark tournaments here in 1996, and some of our members have participated in the Star Island shark tournaments." Bob and his club recognize the importance of quality service - When we come in from a day of fishing, we are dog tired and irritable. We appreciate the level and quality of Star Island's service tremendously," noted Bob.
