Mike from Star Island Yacht Club said the tog bite has been excellent, with fish to 8 pounds coming from the Point and nearby rockpiles. Slot-sized stripers have also returned in numbers, and the area’s still packed with mackerel. Mike mentioned a few giant bluefin sightings offshore—something to keep an eye on for those still geared up for tuna.

Mike from Star Island Yacht Club reported plenty of yellowfin tuna piling up by the draggers south of Block Island, where boats have been cashing in on a hot bite. Inshore, anglers are still enjoying a steady fluke fishery, while porgies remain consistent across the local grounds, filling coolers for those looking for an easy mixed-bag trip.

Mike from Star Island Yacht Club let me know it was slow due to the storm but he did know of some guys who got out after the storm and had yellowfin within 40 to 50 miles from the point. Porgy fishing was decent the past few days, along with the sea bass on the rocky grounds south of the point like Cartwright and Frisbees. Fluking was slow to start after the storm came by.

Mike from Star Island Yacht Club let me know tuna are still around from the 10 to 30 miles range. Tuna Ridge, CIA and Butterfish are all holding a lot of life right now. Fluking is okay around the point. If you put in some time you will get your keepers. Porgies are large and numerous on the bottom grounds in front of the point.
